2nd Conference on Battery Direct Recycling
As the European Union intensifies its focus on the Critical Raw Materials Act, the ReUse project is set to take center stage at the 2nd Conference on Battery Direct Recycling, organised by our coordinator, Fraunhofer ISC, in Germany.
This year, the presence of ReUse is amplified by a strategic collaboration with fellow Horizon Europe initiatives, RENOVATE and REVITALISE. Together, these three projects represent a comprehensive European front against battery waste, covering the entire value chain from innovative disassembly to the regeneration of active materials.
Direct recycling remains one of the most promising yet technically demanding routes for achieving a circular battery economy. Unlike traditional pyrometallurgical methods, direct recycling preserves the high value of the cathode and anode active materials.
Our Project Coordinator, Claudia Stauch, will deliver a keynote presentation detailing the ReUse project's progress in automated dismantling and high-yield material recovery. Her talk will be a highlight of the "Policy and Processes" sessions, providing a first look at the results from our latest pilot tests.
The conference will serve as a hub for the "Direct Recycling Community," featuring contributions from:
RENOVATE: Focused on 100% recycling of all battery components and the reuse of industrial side streams.
Revitalise: Aiming for 91%+ recycling rates through electrohydraulic fragmentation and smart-reformation of reclaimed materials.
ReUse: Leading the way in low-value LFP waste recycling and direct upcycling technologies.
The FENIX TNT team, leading communication and dissemination for these projects, will be active throughout the event. We invite all attendees – from researchers and industry leaders to policymakers — to engage with us. Whether you are looking for technical data or potential project synergies, the FENIX TNT team is ready to facilitate the conversation.
Join the Conversation! Registration is currently open for the event held at the Congress Centrum Würzburg from February 3–5, 2026.
