Women Driving Battery Innovation: ReUse Represented at BEPA Event
In February, Sortbat participated in the event Women Leading the Battery Innovation Race, organised by BEPA – Batteries European Partnership Association in Brussels, Belgium.
BEPA represents European research and innovation across the battery value chain, setting technological priorities and advocating for supportive funding and policy frameworks. It encourages collaboration to speed up innovation and its industrial deployment, strengthening Europe’s competitiveness.
The ReUse project supports these goals by promoting sustainable battery reuse and recycling solutions, working towards a more circular and resilient battery ecosystem in Europe. All of this is achieved with our top female researchers in mind.
The event brought together approximately 80 participants from across industry, research, and policy, highlighting the importance of diversity and leadership in accelerating innovation within the battery sector.
Representing Sortbat, Anina Lu (R&D and Technology Manager – Precycling) shared insights into ongoing work on battery sorting and circular value chains, including contributions from the ReUse project and the RISBAT project. The discussions covered the full lifecycle of lithium-ion batteries, from design to recycling, demonstrating the importance of integrated approaches to sustainability. A key takeaway from the event was the need to strengthen collaboration across sectors while promoting inclusive leadership to drive innovation.
