ReUse at Flanders Make Event
On 2 March 2026, Sortbat participated in the Flanders Make event “Sustainable Business Models for the Cycling Sector” in Antwerp, Belgium, engaging with industry stakeholders to explore circular solutions for the growing e-bike market.
At its demo table, Sortbat presented ongoing research on end-of-life and production scrap bicycle batteries, showcasing processes such as sorting, dismantling, characterisation, and precycling. These activities are central to improving safety, traceability, and resource efficiency across the battery value chain.
The event provided an opportunity to highlight Sortbat’s involvement in European innovation projects, including the ReUse project, which focuses on enabling circular approaches to battery reuse and recycling.
Discussions at the event emphasised the importance of collaboration between industry, research, and innovation initiatives to support the transition toward sustainable and circular mobility systems.
