ReUse Consortium Meets in Switzerland
The ReUse partners met in Switzerland for a two-day consortium meeting, combining technical discussions, strategic planning, and inspiring field visits. The 4th General Assembly took place on 30 September and 1 October 2025, hosted first by KYBURZ Switzerland AG at their newly opened facility in Embrach and then by Empa in Dübendorf.
The first day was dedicated to reviewing the progress of each work package and engaging with the project’s Advisory Board. The consortium also welcomed Nora Bartolomé from the Swiss Battery Technology Center, part of the Swiss Innovation Park, who shared insights on bridging the gap between academia and industry.
After a full day of presentations and discussions, participants enjoyed a tour of KYBURZ’s state-of-the-art production site and concluded the day with a unique hands-on experience — testing the company’s electric vehicles, which proudly earned the ReUse stamp of approval.
On the second day, partners gathered at Empa for the continuation of the meeting. In addition to completing the project progress review, attendees were given an exclusive look behind the scenes of Empa’s cutting-edge laboratories. The tour highlighted the institute’s multidisciplinary approach and its crucial role in advancing materials science and battery innovation in Europe.
The meeting concluded with renewed enthusiasm and a clear vision for the next phase of the project. The consortium reaffirmed its commitment not only to achieving the ReUse objectives but also to exploring broader collaborations beyond the project’s scope.
The ReUse team extends its sincere thanks to KYBURZ and Empa for their hospitality and to Project Coordinator, Claudia Stauch, for expertly leading the sessions. With substantial progress, inspiring exchanges, and strengthened partnerships, ReUse continues to move confidently toward its mission of enabling a sustainable and circular battery value chain in Europe.
