ReUse Participates in LCIC 2026 Workshop
The ReUse project will participate in the parallel workshop “Safeguarding Sustainability in Battery Recycling”, taking place on 3 July 2026 in Berlin as part of the LCIC 2026 conference (hybrid format).
The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Revitalise and HiQ-LCA projects (you can learn more about them on our Cooperation page) and focuses on advancing methodological approaches to sustainability assessment in battery recycling. It aims to address key challenges associated with evaluating emerging technologies and ensuring comparability across different recycling routes.
ReUse will be represented by Andreas Bittner (CellCircle) and Alok Prasad (University of Bordeaux), who will present insights on direct recycling and its contribution to sustainable battery value chains.
The programme includes expert presentations, followed by an open discussion and interactive questionnaire session. Key topics include data availability and confidentialityin life cycle thinking, scaling challenges for early-stage technologies, comparability of different recycling approaches, selection of functional units and system boundaries, and the development of flexible modelling approaches for complex multi-stage processes.
By bringing together leading Horizon Europe projects from our Battery 2030+ partnership, the workshop aims to strengthen methodological alignment and support the development of robust sustainability assessment frameworks for next-generation battery recycling technologies.
